Pilates at the Good Health Centre
The Pilates technique was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. It is a precise and intelligent approach to exercise, focusing on both quality and ease of movement. Pilates works by strengthening the stabilizer muscles of the deep core, helping to protect the back and support the spine. It also greatly improves movement patterns by teaching us how to move different joints in isolation, in particular the joints of the spine and the hips. Pilates is sometimes referred to as ‘the thinking person's exercise system', because it requires focus of both mind and body.
The Pilates repertoire will build your strength, develop proper alignment and posture, increase your flexibility and motor control, as well as help you achieve a calm and relaxed mind. Because the exercises will be tailored to your individual needs and aims, you can experience all the remarkable benefits of Pilates, no matter your current level of fitness, age, or shape. Learn how this unique method can make everyday functional movements easier, as well as improve athletic performance!
Health Through Motion's Pilates instructors are: Heba Abdel Gawad, former Olympic Athlete, and Mia Nielsen, professional dancer Health Through Motion and co-founder of integrated contemporary dance company MeshDance. After years of practice of this effective method of exercise, both are very passionate about sharing the amazing benefits of Pilates with others.
