Pilates is a mind body conditioning exercise program that targets the deep postural muscles of the abdomen and spine to improve overall central core stability and posture. The mind and body are brought together to achieve these airms through the following eight wound principles:
Concentration, Centering, Breathing, Isolation, Routine, Precision, Control and Flowing Movement.
Pilates is a continually progressive form of exercise that incorporates precise and flowing movements of an increasingly complex and challenging nature.
Who can do Pilates?
Pilates is suitable for all ages and fitness levels and is particularly beneficial in the treatment and prevention of low back pain, poor postures, neurological condidtions, mental health conditions, arthritic conditions, stress related illness and before and after pregnancy. Pilates is also extremely beneficial for sports conditioning, injury prevention and injury rehabilitation.
The sessions are lead by Simon, a fully qualified physiotherapist and lecturer for the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute, The sessions are conducted on either a one-to-one basis or in small group. This allows a much more tailored and personal approach to your Pilates experience.
